There's a frown when Varian pulls back and... Well it reminds her a whole lot of the last time something like this happened and she wasn't about to let it happen again. She thinks Glitch is onto something with his idea and the same thought had crossed her mind as well.
Except she expands on it.
She kneels down so she can get an arm wrapped around Varian's waist and just hefts him up over her shoulder. It wasn't quite the same as when she carried him to her backyard but circumstances were different this time around. Glitch also didn't need the PDA while they were all mourning.]
I'm with Glitch on this one. You're not fine down here and you're both too tired for this right now.
[She's not including herself in this one, she was there for them. Her problems could wait for awhile. Her eyes glance over toward Glitch and she gives a ghost of a smile.]
Grab what he's been working on. As long as he's working up in the tower I don't see a problem.
[She glances back to Varian sympathetically.]
Just a little bit of rest, it'll make all of us feel better. okay?

So he heaves out a sigh, relents. He's tired, in every way it's possible for a person to be tired. He hasn't got the energy to fight this. He goes limp in Ruby's arms. At least he's a skinny nothing so his deadweight isn't all that bad. ]

[It's mumbled against her back while he just dangles there. He might not be especially fighting, but he'll sure slam up those defensive walls like a pro.]

It's a good thing Varian decided to take the easy route on this because Glitch might have resorted to the exact methods he outlined. So, at Ruby's instruction, Glitch does pick up some of the books and journals that Varian had been writing in.
He reaches out to the chemistry set with his hand and thankfully there's bits of metal and pieces all holding everything together. He lifts a hand and with it the small set raises, best not to lift all of Varian's set up upstairs. ]

[ And Glitch takes the lead floating the chemistry set up in front of him. But as he passes Ruby, he gives her a small; ]

But that's why she couldn't give up on him now, it just highlighted that he really needed their help at the moment. She keeps a strong face up for all their sakes.]

[It's not exactly the more reassuring promise but she had meant.
She looked over to Glitch and gave him a faint smile and a nod as she continued to carry Varian up the stairs and toward the toward.]

[Does sitting in a corner ignoring everyone and working instead of sleeping count as rest? He's sure going to count that as rest. Ruby didn't qualify what "rest" was, which means he gets to decide what it is.
He stays dangling there, not really able to escape. He's struggling to find the bright side, everything's awful and it's just getting worse. He hasn't felt like this since July. He hates it a lot.]

[His tone is subdued, deeply unhappy. He's not after fun of any kind right now. He just wants to be left alone to grieve- in a really unhealthy way, he knows. But it's the only way he can think of handling it without falling to pieces right now. ]

Going upstairs with the floating materials, Glitch ascends to the tower and only looks back every so often. Varian was clearly more of a mess than him and Ruby well.
He's guessing she has to keep it together even more so. Considering her and Fern's turbulent relationship. When he reaches the door to the tower he opens it up and the chemistry set goes to the corner of the room.
Stepping in, he already plunks down a pile of pillows they have near the couches. Already he can feel the effects of the room on his own mind.]

[Her heart sinks knowing how hard this must be for him. The thoughts of him showing up in front of her house the last time Fern died play fresh in her mind. She wishes she could do to ease his pain but the words are lost on her at the moment.
She offers Glitch the best smile she can manage when he opens the door. She was doing her best to keep it together for their sake, letting the drama get the better of her wasn't going to help this situation in the slightest.
She looks around the tower with a hint with a little bit of wonder, a little weight felt like it was being lifted off her shoulders as she stepped in.]
That would be great. We should have brought the pantry from Clover's over here. Would have been a better idea in the long run.
[She carries Varian over toward the couch closest to Glitch and plops him down on it with as much care as she can. She sits down beside him. She's not sure how long he'll be there with his current mood but there was only so much she could really do to stop him at the moment.]

Once he's plopped onto the couch he does, at least, stay there. He pulls his legs up, resting his chin on his knees, hugging his arms around his legs for some self-comfort. The desire to shut down and turn inwards for the rest of the day is a pretty strong one- but he knows that really wouldn't be fair for Ruby or Glitch. ]
Clover doesn't come across as the sort of person who eats food other people would find tasty. Or edible, really.
