[After the whole... Mayor thing he'd been kind of dreading this. He knew it would come eventually, but it doesn't mean he wants to speak about it any.]

He has something in his head. Something that makes him go stab happy. I dunno what it is but I've seen it. His eyes get weird and snake like and I know he doesn't know.

Jon found it in him about a month or so ago? When Fern went all... angry and stabbed the guy? And you. It was because Jon saw it. What's in his head. I've been trying to learn more. I need to be SURE before I say anything to him. He was really freaked out about it.

Didn't plan to tell him any time soon. How do you tell someone that? Hi. You're fucking possessed by a murder being and the guy who confirmed it is the dude with a million eyeballs?

Yeah, that'd go over well. Still doesn't make it any more comfortable HIDING it from him. It's like we're lying.

But, yeah. Eyeball dude told me the same thing about what he saw...before I threw a library cart at him.

It wouldn't go down well at ALL. And I know, I hate it too. It really freaked him out though, when Jon told him about it. I spent I don't know how long literally up a tree calming him down. After the library cart. I don't want to put him through that again until I'm 100% sure. I need to know exactly what is going on and how to deal with it before I bring it up to him.

[He hesitates because he's been... very careful not to talk about this particular part. Jon only knows for the sake of research, but now Glitch has been pulled into this madness too.]

A few months ago a green, spider-octopus thing attacked Ruby in the Great Sleep. It tried to trap her there- managed it for a while. It told her that it was doing everyone else a favour. That keeping her there would stop other people from being hurt.

It matches what Jon's been describing as what's in Fern's head.

Yeah, I was there for the freak out. I was an injured casualty of the freak out.

[ Might as well admit that to Varian because he probably knows anyways. But, now there's this talk about a strange octo spider and it attacked Ruby. Yup. Concerning. ]

So, What do we do? I haven't exactly dealt with spider, demon monsters inside people's brains. I've been looking through a bunch of shit to try and figure out what to do.

Bibles, fiction, even a bunch of medical text books to get some kind of idea.

I know. He was worried you were dead and that you'd hate him for it when you came back. It was very much a very large part of the freakout.

[Normally he does his best to keep Fern's fears and worries to himself, not wanting to breach the confidentiality Fern has trusted him with. But he feels this is important- for Glitch to know Fern never brushed aside the attack, that it had left a mark in him alongside what Jon did to him.]

I don't know. All I know about demons is that the one that threatened my world was trapped in a tree by a man who combined science and magic. I haven't found out how he did it yet, I was researching it back home before... more important research cropped up.

[Eventually, he'll go home and learn the demon ins question is the real problem and she'll be a big research point again. As of now, he's woefully unprepared. ]

I don't know what would happen if we separated it from Fern. I absolutely do not want to hurt him. I was pondering maybe trapping it in the Great Sleep- that would function as a prison it couldn't get out of- but I don't really know how to do that.

Yeah, I had a feeling. We talked about it a little together, at least the whole...him stabbing me. Told him it wasn't his fault and I didn't hold it against him.

Not sure if he fully believed it but it's true.

[ After all, it was so easy for him to lose his trust in people, his faith. But seeing Fern that day and finding out more it's enough to at least keep his trust in the boy, but not the monster in his head. ]

Would be nice though if we knew how that guy did that. We could use something like that right now.

Look. I don't want to hurt him either. So, I'm down with trying to like, trap it so it doesn't influence him anymore.

He's just been through a lot. He really, really doesn't like himself much. He's worse at it than even I am.

I think it's some sort of power he holds himself. I don't think he can control it very well, ergo the whole EYES thing.

Maybe that's our best choice? I don't know if we should tell Fern beforehand or not. I feel like he SHOULD know about what's inside his own head, but would that clue in the whatever it is and make it lash out? Make it hurt Fern even more than it already is. I don't know what the best course of action is.

You get dreamcatchers to get into it- I think you have to sleep under them? I've not got one, so I'm gonna have to find someone that does so I can hitch a ride.

What's in there exactly? Are you absolutely sure we can trap it in there if it's even possible?

I'm not sure. I know you can get coins there to help access other things Sodder might throw at us? As far as I'm aware dying doesn't work the same there, and you don't get hungry or thirsty. You can be stuck there forever.
