That would be great! Thank you. I'm trying to see if I can replicate them, to try and help people when everything goes awful in October. I managed to get the Antidote down pat, but I feel this one might be a little trickier.

One should do it. I only need a small amount for study. I don't want to use too much in case I can't replicate it and then we end up losing something that can save a life.

Excellent. I'll see to it that it's deposited for you. We run into so many strange things around here. Having one more set of eyes to research is never a bad thing. And if you can replicate it, even better.

Have you had a chance to work on antidotes by chance?

I really hope so, anyway. From what I've heard about it, it sounds like it's more based in magic than the antidote, but that's fine. I can figure something out, probably.

Uh-huh. I had a sample in my blessings basket. I've been able to replicate it. Now I'm trying to make sure I have enough in time for October.

Most likely, but the line between magic and science in Alchemy is less about the 'what' and more about 'how you see it.' After all, I'm sure a scientist or metallurgist could tell you how to turn lead into gold, to take our former discussion.

[Look, Nuclear transmutation and the manipulation of alpha and beta particle decay to get to the correct nuclear combination was possible in infinitesimal quantities, but it was not cost effective and really more to say "I DID IT!"]

I like to think magic is just science I haven't understood yet. Though there is some magic in my world that's... not so easily explained.

[Mostly because they're celestial magical bodies that dropped to the Earth for Reasons, but what can you do.]

I hope so too! It sounds like we really need it.

I tend to think of the two as different approaches to what is ultimately the same thing. One tends to rely upon rites and performances by the person. The other tends to rely upon tools, careful research and defined practice. One can be more intuitive, the other more refined and logical.

We almost certainly will next month. Honestly.

You strike me as ... adaptable, Varian. I think you will fare better than some do in October. You may be running around screaming and throwing bombs to kill a monster, but I suspect you will be ok.
