They had a conversation. Okay. That wasn't so bad. Neo didn't do much talking though so she could guess who did most of the talking.
She totally did it to make Ruby's life difficult.]
On the Catbus? I mentioned she was stabby before, right?
Look. I don't know what happened and she was as vague about it. So I don't really know whether I should ask what you were thinking or not. But...
Just don't do anything really dumb. I'm trying to figure this out and I don't want anyone to get hurt before I do.
We've got kind of an agreement that this is just between the both of us right now. She's messed up but I think she'll stick to for now.

[He kind of hoped he would be able to avoid this particular conversation for the rest of forever. Ruby had asked him to stay away and while he hadn't sought Neo out, he could have ignored her and not said a thing.
But he didn't, and he's not sorry for that. He doubts anything he had to say to Neo made much difference, but at least he can say he tried. He gave her a chance to back down before things got ugly- because he's very aware they will end up ugly. ]
We ran into each other, we talked. Well. I talked, she used the Fluid. Mostly about what she was doing.
[He's being purposefully vague because the horrible gut-wrenching truth is that he can see Neo's side too. Not against Ruby, oh no, never against her. But he's stood where Neo's stood. He's felt that all consuming rage. Where all you want is to lash out against the person you blame for your misery. Where you don't even care what the outcome is- if it kills you in the process. It was an eye-opener, seeing it from the other side. The reminder, the feeling of familiarity, doesn't sit well with him. ]
This is only going to end when either one of you is dead or she's incapacitated in another way. She's angry and she blames you for losing whoever the red-haired guy is. That sort of anger can't be reasoned with. She wants to destroy you, and she doesn't care how she achieves that or what happens to her afterwards. You might not be able to figure it out.

[She didn't want to be having this conversation anymore than he did. It wasn't that she was even made at him for approaching her. She just didn't want him to get himself killed. This was her mess that she had stumbled into and she had to find a way out of it.]

[Her heart sinks after hearing that. She doesn't want to admit he's right but she can't deny that he's not wrong either. Neo had made it fairly clear after two increasingly close attempts at her life where they stood.

[He hates talking about this- being so open about how awful he was. Ruby knows the story now, and she didn't bail on him- but that fear still lingers, from time to time. Neo might be a monster, but so was he. And monsters don't change so easily. He doesn't want Ruby to get herself killed in some vain hope she can sway Neo away from the path she's on.]

[Part of her wanted to hold on to the idea that there had to be something that could push Neo the same way. She didn't know what could but she did wish with all of her heart that it was so.]
I just... I don't blame her for how she feels. I can't. I lost two of my best friends the day she lost him. I know what it's like to lose the people you care about. I know there's a hole in her heart that just isn't going to get better.
[She wouldn't say that she wants Neo to kill her, but remaining a target for her gave Neo something to work toward.]

It's... fine. I just- you just need to understand you can't always fix this kind of thing. No amount of kind words or understanding can turn a person that focused on destruction. She has to come to it on her own or she won't at all. I don't want to see you get yourself killed trying.

That's... I see your point and I understand where your coming from. I just feel like I have to do something. Even if I can't make things between us, I can at least try to not make things worse. I doubt she's going to stop regardless but she's just going to fight all the harder if she thinks she has to go through a bunch of people to get to me.
