So the idea is that you don't have an allegiance to a particular kingdom? I mean, I can see there the logic works there. You want to be sure the people protecting you from the horrible nightmare monsters will protect everyone fairly. And some kingdoms don't treat you guys like that? Like they don't want you around or something?

That's the idea! It also encourages us to go and protect the outlying villages between kingdoms too.

All of them want us around. Just Atlas' Huntsmen Academy is directly linked to their military. It's the only kingdom that does that and they try to scoop up their graduates with special positions there. It's not a very well liked take on the whole thing.

I'm not exactly an expert. I think if it's working out for the people there it's okay. If it stops doing that, than we're definitely going to have to look at some changes.

I think generally you leave that sort of thing for the people in charge. Or at least trust them to get the right sort of advisors to help them make the right decisions to change things.

Yeah. You have to have the right team supporting you to make sure things work out for the best. The kingdoms generally run on a council system so it's not just one person making the decision there. So no one should be able to just fly off the rails and do what they want.

That's so much better than home. We just have the King. He decides everything. Sure, he has an advisor but ultimately he makes all the decisions. Even bad ones.

[There's a good long pause before he responds. He's avoided talking about this because he feels Cassandra deserves the same chance he's had. To have an almost clean slate- to chose who gets to learn what she's done, instead of having everyone know her for her mistakes.

But it's not fun, keeping it all to himself. He's very worried about home, he's worried about her. He tried so hard to make her realise she was destroying her own life, but he failed. And now he doesn't know what she's going to do. He just wants her to avoid the same dark path he did and he's not convinced that's possible any more.

Above all, he trusts Ruby with this information.]

I'm not the only friend Rapunzel has had turn against her. Cassandra's... in a bad place. Figuratively and literally. I don't know what she's going to do to Corona but it's not good. I've tried to talk her out of it but I don't think she wants to hear it. She might have kind of definitely kidnapped me- to get information only I have. So back home she currently has me in a rock cage hanging over a near two hundred foot drop.

Today it was concerning. On the bright side no Fluids were getting thrown around today.

She reads it over and can't help but feel a pang of worry for Varian. More so knowing that she can't just rush in to save him back in his world.]

Yes. I have to. I need to believe she can come back to the light again. That she's not beyond redemption. She's a good person, she just got her head messed up with things and she just needs to realise that what she's doing will ultimately destroy her.

I don't want her to feel the way I feel about myself. She deserves better than that.

I know the situation looks bleak.
But I don't think it's important that you haven't given up on her.
She might have used you to get more power
to get what she wanted.
But you're still alive right now.
There's a difference between hanging someone over a drop like that and just pushing them off.
She doesn't sound like she's all gone to me.
If you think there's still hope for her than I do too.
I'm sure you friends feel the same way.

There is. She could have very easily have just dropped me. She even told me she didn't want to hurt me. I'm just bait now. For Rapunzel. I guess we'll have to see what happens when she comes for me.

I hope maybe Rapunzel can talk her out of it? I don't know. She's- she was talking to someone else. That wasn't there. But she's a good person- one of the best people. I just hope she can pull herself out of this.

I haven't told anyone else. I don't know if Cass will ever show up here or not, but if she does? I don't want people here to know here as some villain. She deserves at least half a chance to live as normal a life as she can.
