But. Lord. That sounds like a terrible idea. And Jun is very much giving that look he gives when he knows a bit will blow up in Varian's face]

[ If Jun didn't gloat at him, Varian would worry about him.

This is a terrible idea, and naturally, Varian is going to do it. Because if Varian made good life choices, he wouldn't have done have the things he has done in his life. ]

You know what? I'm so gonna do it. Write down my findings. He might even enjoy it.

[He will not. ]

[Yeah this... is about what he expected. Varian was Varian, and that meant his impulse control only worked about 30% of the time.

[ You can't have good impulse control and be a scientist, these two things are diametrically opposed. So here they are. Varian snorts, flapping his hand. ]

It's fiiiiine, it'll be fine! It won't be that bad.

[He seems more confident about that than he strictly should be.

Still, he returns to his food, eating a meatball, before skewering the last one, offering it to Jun.]

It might be fun.

Yoooou tell yourself that. But you'll be on your own for this one.

[In other words, he wants nothing to do with this fire. He respects Wriothesley, okay.

But he'll smile when Varian offers him the last meatball, taking it.]

Wow, won't even rescue me, huh? I see how it is.

[ Rescue him from what he brought onto himself, sure. ]

Yup? You too? All ready to set off to Hyrule for some fun of our own?

No way. You go to your dad's place during the week, but I'm here full time.

[So no, he's not involving himself. ]

Mm! Lemme just grab a bag of stuff. [He'll stand up to do that] I think I still have some of those potions from last time.

Fiiine, that's a good point. But I still say he'll see the funny side.

[ WILL he, though? He brightens, now Jun has eased his concerns about this, he can actually be pretty excited about it. He stands up himself, moving to tidy up their meal. ]

Those were really useful, I wouldn't want to try prepping once the laws come out, that feels... dicey. Now that would be a mood killer.

[He already had his bag from coming to stay in the fortress, so he has zero packing to worry about. Playing it smart without even meaning to! So he'll go grab that once he's done cleaning up. ]

Maybe he will! You do always have a way of making me laugh.

[He doubts it will actually work this time, but you never know!! ]

Seriously. Nothing kills the mood more than needing to track down a healer. [Digging through his drawers and! Oh!] Found them. Catc-

[He is about to say, but then he realizes oh yeah maybe don't expect the nerd to be athletic. So instead he'll walk across the room to hand him a potion] Here.

See? Have some faith in me, I can pull it off.

[ He's gonna find a christmas dog squeaky. Really up his chances! ]

It really does not, much as I love you and love being intimate with you, I'd really rather not if we can avoid it.

[ He's reaching out his hand to catch it, grimacing a little because while his aim is great, his catching abilities are not. Thankfully, Jun is good to him and brings it over. Varian opens it up, giving little toast signal with it, before downing it. ]

Still not the worst thing I've drunk.

I have lots of faith in you, Var. It's just not blind faith.

[You know what? That'd probably help]

No argument there. I have one of those ARCUS, I'll pack that to heal up any minor injuries, okay?

[Yeah don't worry babe, no hand-eye coordination today. Jun will also drink down his own potion, throwing the empty bottle into the trash before he heads back to the other side of the room. He'll will away his uniform, leaving him barefooted and his shroud no longer lying in the room - best to not leave that out. He'll also pack his ARCUS and a few other odds and ends into his bag- including his phone that he's switching onto Do Not Disturb]

Alright, I'm ready to go.

[He'll hold out his hand for Varian to take]

...You know what, that's super fair.

[Blind faith is never healthy, after all. He nods in agreement. ]

I have my ARCUS too, but I used it to heal up Maxima today, so it's probably not got a lot in it to do it again, so best have it with us, just in case.

[He deeply appreciates the mercy you have shown him this day. He waits patiently while Jun gets ready, watching him potter around and get everything squared away with a soft, loving smile. Only when Jun reaches his hand out does he snap out of it, taking the proffered hand and giving it a squeeze. ]

Okay, I'l all set.

Haha, I see. Well, don't worry- mine's fully charged. Strangely no one wants to go to the shrouded knight with a giant sword for healing...

[He says, jokingly. When Varian takes his hand, he'll pull him close, giving him a loving kiss on the forehead right before they teleport. The room around them vanishes in a flash of blue light, only for them to reappear in that secluded part of Hyrule in the woods. It's a downright peaceful evening out here compared to the chaos the city has experienced the last few days.]

Not sensing any other presences nearby... it's just the two of us.

So weird, right? I'd say you could make yourself less threatening by adding a little pin-badge of a smiley face or something, but that might soften the Seal Knight look a little too much.

[Oh, but if his heart doesn't flutter at that little forehead kiss. The simplest gestures of affection mean the absolute world to him, they make him feel just as loved as any words Jun can give him. As they teleport into the woods, he glances around them, getting his bearings. The quiet is so nice after everything they've been through, and Varian very much welcomes it. ]

Great. [He leans in to press a kiss at the corner of his boyfriend's mouth. ] Honestly, after all the noise of the city and how crazy it's been... this is really nice. Just being with you.

[whiteshroud]

[He snorts] Yeah, I don't think that'd work. If anything, it might just make people start accusing me of being behind that smiley face murder conspiracy.

[He's at least growing more aware that some people find him scary in that shroud. Progress!

He'll smile, catching Varian's lips as he does that so he can give him a proper kiss. The feeling is similar with him. After all the fighting and stress, it just felt wonderful to be alone in a quiet place with the man he loved. ]

Mm, I agree... [His hand will reach up to run through varian's hair, pushing some of it back] And you're safe out here. Your wolf side won't hurt me.

[He knows after what happened with Ana and Maxima, Varian was at risk of backsliding with his fear of his monster side. So.. it was time to face that fear, before it got entrenched]

The... that what? [He looks so confused, then slowly raises his hands. ] Y-Y'know what, if that's gonna be a mood killer, we'll put a pin in that for later. It sounds like it would be a mood killer.

[He's making some great progress and Varian is very proud of him!

He returns the kiss with a happy hum, pressing close to this partner, finding such comfort in it. Even more so when Jun starts playing in his hair, his eyes drifting closed as he leans into it contentedly. He lets out a long, slow breath, letting his partner's words wash over him.

Because Jun is right. They'd made so much progress over his fear of his wolf form, Varian had learned to not hate it. Hell, he'd learned to start to embrace it- to find the same joy in it as Jun does. To accept it as a part of him, not something to be feared or despised.

But this had rattled him. Reminded him of how dangerous he could be if he lost control. He doesn't want to hurt anyone, and he certainly doesn't want to lose control of himself like that again. But having the reminder is like an anchor, saving him from the storm threatening to ruin all the progress they'd made. A tiny smile pulls at the corners of his lips. ]

I know. I know we're both safe out here. [His hand moves up to gently curl around Jun's wrist as it plays in his hair. ] I am the wolf.. I remember.

[whiteshroud]

[Jun's eyes light up at Varian asking. Sure it's a pin, but it's not a no] Oh, I'll tell you all about it later- you'd love it. [WOULD HE?] Is there a super serial killer out there, or is humanity's tendency to find patterns being misused to make sense of unrelated tragic accidents? I'd love to hear your thoughts on it.

[Someone really needs to do something about Jun's true crime addiction.

But for now, he'll thankfully go back to focusing on the moment. He'll continue petting Varian's hair, his hand moving to Varian's waist as he moves Varian against a nearby tree. He bends his head down to start kissing along Varian's jawline. ]

Mm, that's right. And nothing bad will happen out here if you let yourself be the wolf. You were just scared before, that's all.

[ Varian listens to Jun gush about something that sounds... pretty unnerving. But his eyes have lit up, and clearly he's excited about this. Someone probably should do something about Jun's true crime addiction, but it's not gonna be Varian. Because he is a simp and he likes to see his boyfriend look so happy about something.]

No kidding? That does sound pretty fascinating. You can tell me all about it later.

[And the dice will fall where they fall on that one.

He lets Jun guide him against the tree, tilting his head back to give him more access to his jaw, a soft whine escaping his throat at the sensation. His own hands shift, one tangling in the hair at the back of Jun's head, the other sliding to rest at the base of his spine. ]

Yeah, you're right. I know knothing bad will happen, especially when I'm with you.

[ Because Jun makes everything so much clearer and less frightening and just better. He can't think of any scenario where having Jun around wouldn't make him feel infinitely safer.]

[Unnerving is right, but at least he's going to move on for it for now. It's something Varian will have to deal with at a later time.

For now, Jun's pretty occupied with what he's doing right now. The kisses move from Varian's jaw down to his neck, where he starts scrapping against the skin with his teeth. Fingers are making quick work of unbuttoning Varian's shirt. ]

Mmhmm... so just relax, okay? No need to hold anything back.

[That's a Future Varian problem!

Current Varian is enjoying himself far too much to worry about the future right now. His pulse quickens as Jun's kisses move to his neck, a soft gasp escaping his throat as his partner's teeth scrapes across the skin. His hand at Jun's back slips under his shirt, so his fingers can scrape over his own skin as they start to turn into the sharp points of claws.

He's happy to help Jun with shirt, shrugging out of it to let it drop to the ground, his fingers slipping to work on the buttons on the front of Jun's shirt too, laughing softly. ]

Don't worry, no intentions of holding back with you. I trust you.

[whiteshroud]

[Oh he can feel those claws against his skin, giving a purring sound of pleasure as they scrape against him- egging him on.

Varian's shirt will quickly get dropped to the ground, before Jun helps with shrugging off his own. It's kinda cold standing out here in the woods with no shirt on in November, but he's sure they'll warm up soon enough. For now, his hand will move to Varian's chest and start playing with his nipple by massaging it, teasing it. All while his mouth continues to kiss and nip at Varian's neck.]

And I trust you, Var. [He chuckles a little] Though let me know if you get too tired, okay? We have been fighting monsters all week.

[droptheious]

[The purr coming from Jun gives Varian goosebumps - well, that and being shirtless in the cold air, but mostly the purring. A low growl rumbles out of his chest in response, his claws running light patterns on his partner's bare back.]

H-hah, I'll let you know. Might not have has many round as last time we were out here, but still-

[They're not driven by the all-consuming heat this time. Though, he does supposes it means they can take their time with it. Varian whines as Jun's fingers find his nipple, arching into the touch. He leans in to nibble at Jun's earlobe, the hand not on his back travelling south to feel up his ass ]

Sam goes to you, I know you don't tired that easy, but you've been doing a lot more fighting than most people.

[He is still holding you to the tap out if you get exhausted rule, Jun. ]

[He can't help but snort at that]

Mm, I don't think we'll be able to top that record tonight. Or, anytime soon.

[Considering that was a night when just everything aligned just for that. He's perfectly fine with taking it slower tonight. He sure likes the feeling of Varian nibbling his earlobe and feeling him up, which he'll make a soft sound to indicate that. His own kisses will start working across Varian's shoulder, to help give the other more access. His hand will continue teasing him, moving over to the other nipple.

He does make a click at the tongue at the second remark]

Yeah, I know. But I'm fine, really. I'm sure I got enough energy to get bit and seduce you.

Yeaaaaah, that was pretty unique.

[ Slower is honestly really pleasant, it's been a long, deeply unnerving day. This is... nice. It makes Varian feel safe, happy. He's desperately needed this feeling after everything that's gone on. He grins against his partner's skin at the sound he makes, giving his rear gentle squeeze in reward for it.

A groan of his own escapes his throat as Jun continues to work his nipples- though he does snort at that comment. He nips a little harder at Jun's earlobe, tugging it lightly with his mouth as he does so. ]

Someone's confident today.

[He chuckles a little as he continues. His free hand starts to run down Varian's abdomen, small claws forming on his fingers so he can feel the light claws scrapping against his skin as he makes his way down to Varian's waist]

Why wouldn't I be? You seem to be already having a good time.
