But I'm... really glad. I can tell how happy you are, even without the link. [Varian is practically glowing in happiness] Think you'll be able to be tour guide this weekend?

Well, you did that to yourself. You shot for the stars on my first birthday we had together. That's just a you problem now.
[His own tone is very much teasing, his grin lopsided as he nuzzles Jun's cheek gently.]
Oh good, I'm glad you're reading it loud and clear, because I am. I'm really happy. You make me really happy. [ He nods, clearly excited at the prospect. ] You bet I can! I got a really good lay of the land- and there's a lot I wanna have a look into. There's a castle here, I've missed being inside a castle. Sure, it's a ruin, but still! America's great and all, but you guys are seriously lacking in castles.

Good, I'm very glad. And that's true. You really can't beat a good experience, especially when I get to share it with you.
[Because he's a big ol simp who wants to enjoy his life with the man he loves. He snorts in laughter. ]
I mean, they're technically castles, you gotta work with what you get, I guess! And yeah, that'd be fun, I think. And heck, just... walking around and relaxing sounds good, too. We've bother earned that, I think.

I can agree with that. Remember that "mission" I was on earlier this month? The part I didn't mention was that the client was you. I can't teleport to a place I've never been before, so that week my siblings and I were on a roadtrip to get me here, since they know Germany and can drive. [Two skills Jun lack] It was fun, but I missed having you with us. I forwent a lot of stuff just so I could experience them with you first.
[Such as the desserts and particular spots that he felt Varian would enjoy showing. It was really nice, getting an actual normal family vacation with his siblings, the first one they've ever had - but he never forgot Varian the entire time]
Mm, that sounds pretty nice to me, our lives are eventful as is. Did you want to get going now or do it later? [He's comfortable, but this is Varian's vacation, so if Varian's amped to get going, he'll go along with it]

...No kidding? [Okay, that makes him laugh. ] That was so sneaky. I had no idea. I genuinely thought it was just a really sensitive mission that you couldn't give me details for.
[At Jun's second confession, Varian stills for a moment, taking in exactly what Jun had done for him. Another burst of gratitude and sheer love for this man blooms in his chest, something Jun will certainly feel through their bond, being this close. ]
...Jun. [He presses a kiss on top of Jun's head. ] You're wonderful, you know that? That's so incredibly sweet. Thank you. I can't wait to experience these things with you.
[ His smile gentles, though, as he snuggles in a little closer. ] We can do it later. M'comfy. [ This is nice, he does grin a little though. ] But I did get you a little treat, if you want that~

Well, it was! Had I told you the details, it would've ruined the mission. [And he can feel that burst of gratitude. It relieves Jun a lot that he didn't take it the wrong way, even if he feels a bit on the spot with the thank] Ah- I'm sure you would've done the same for me. Still, I'll admit it was a challenge refusing the desserts every time we stopped for dinner...
[He shrugs off being stabbed or tortured like it's nothing. But going without dessert? That's TRUE torment.
But he laughs at that, relieved] Thank God, I was willing but I really didn't want to move. [His ears will perk up a little] You did? What is it?

It would have! I'm very impressed you kept it on the downlow, it really did make the surprise all the better. [He'll calm down with the thanks eventually, he's just still reeling. This is right up there with Amal adopting him on 'life changing good deeds done for him'. He presses another kiss on top of Jun's head.]
You bet I would. And you're so brave and noble, foregoing all those desserts. You have faced great hardships for me, and I will make that worth it for you. We are gonna eat so many.
[ He laughs again, snuggled up. ]
Me either. I've already done a lot of walking and this is nice. I'm comfy. [ But with that, he does shift a little so he can reach to get the cake box, bringing it to the bed. He opens it up to a cake inside. ] This is called a himmelstorte. A 'Heaven Cake' in English. It's meringue, whipped cream and raspberries- with roasted almonds on the top. They used to make this in my time, it was great to see it still being baked!

[He gives a melodramatic sigh, before kissing his boyfriend's cheek playfully. ]
Alright, so then let's stay in tonight. We got the whole weekend, so we'll go out tomorrow. [They can always order food when they get hungry for something that isn't dessert. But his ears will perk up even further and he'll look at the cake inside the box. His tail is once again wagging]
-- Ah, it looks so good! And it's a whole cake too! [His boyfriend is the BEST] We're splitting it right? I want to know if it tastes the same for you too.

You poor soul. That's so much. I hope they compose a song for you and all you held back on for me.
[ That's a welcome thought, though. Much as he wants to show Jun around, he also like being around Jun. And this is a nice cabin to be in. And honestly? Having an evening with his partner with zero interruptions of any kind when it's not a full moon sounds wonderful ]
Sounds perfect. We've got lots of time for sight-seeing, and now we know we can do this, we can always travel again for anything we miss. [He laughs at the wagging tail. ]
Of course! I wanted to make sure I could get some of my own while also being sure to treat your sweet tooth! I thought the best way around was a whole cake. And yeah! I'm really curious how much it might've changed through the centuries.

[Could be worse, he supposes, if he has to be remembered. ]
Mm! Germany's now only a quick teleport away from us now. We can come here anytime you'd like. [He'll give him a squeeze of his waist as he says this, reassuring. This wasn't going to be a one-time thing. Not with the abilities they had]
Haha, good! I don't think I'll eat the whole cake, but I definitely want a slice. Did you get some forks?

[ He makes a happy sound at the squeeze, leaning in to press a little kiss on Jun's jawline. ]
See? You've opened up the chance for us to come here plenty of times. We don't need to shove everything into one weekend. Which, hey, I am not gonna complain about more time relaxing with you.
[ Of course Jun plans to eat it out of the box- it seems Varian prepared for this, reaching into the box and pulling out some wooden forks. ]
Picked them up at the bakery. I know you.

And I'm not either. Any chance I get to spend with you sounds like a good opportunity for me. I really like our time together.
[Whether they're doing things together, or just relaxing like this. As long as he gets moments of being alone with Varian like this, he's happy.
And that smile will turn into a grin as he offers the forks. He'll take one]
You really do, thank you. [He'll reach into the box and fork up a piece of cake. He'll hold it out for Varian, as if planning to do a toast] Cheers.

Same! I really don't mind what we do together, so long as it is together. I think we've more than earned a little us-time.
[ His grin only widens at Jun's reaction to the forks. He reaches in to fork up his own piece, clinking his cake against Jun's. ]

[He pops his piece of cake in his mouth, closing his eyes as he chews. He makes a few happy noises, before swallowing, his eyes opening again to focus on his partner. ]
It's good! A little sweeter than I remember, but otherwise very similar! How'd you like it?

[Time together sounded ideal to him. He'll clink his cake against Varian's before taking a bite. He makes his own happy sound about it, clearly enjoying the taste of it.

Right? I knew you'd love it. As soon as I saw it, I knew this needed to be the treat to bring back to you. It's... nice, being able to share a bit of something I grew up with... with you.

So hey, I wanted to run something past you. Because there's a couple new crafting abilities I thought might be good for the rings, but I absolutely want to get your opinion on them before I do anything.

[It must be a happy memory, if Varian wants to share it with him. It's cute to imagine a younger Varian, eating this for a holiday or a birthday. ]

[It was a very happy memory. Quirin didn't always have a lot of time for him when he was younger, but he had time for that and it makes the memory all the more precious. He smiles, his free hand shifting to take Jun's interlacing their fingers together, turning Jun's hand a little so he can look at the ring finger. He already has the design of the ring to go on that finger planned out- has most of the supplies ready. He's all set to start on it. ]
Thank you, I appreciate that, but I'd still like your input all the same. You know how I can imbue certain abilities into items I make? Well, two of those abilities are to be able to sense the general direction where someone is and to also do a wellness check on them- find out if they're hurt or... or anything. You have to use either a piece of hair or fingernail into the crafting for it. [He clears his throat. ] I... I thought that we could do that for each of us, so we always know if the other's doing okay, even when we're not close by. But... but I also know it can also come across as kinda invasive and I definitely do not want to make you uncomfortable with it. So if that's a no? Totally understandable. I can find something else. It's... it's just something I feel is vital you get a say in, too.

[So Varian could have a chance to carry on that tradition. Varian can't go home again, they both know that-- but traditions had a way of tying you to people and places that were no longer reachable.
He listens as Varian explains what he wants to do with the rings... yeah, he can see now why Varian would want his input on that, and he does appreciate it. He has to consider it for a moment]
Hmmm... Would you be the only one who'd be able to sense that information about me?

[Because his relationship with Quirin was complicated. An imperfect, messy thing. They'd only just started to reach a mutual understanding of one another before Varian was brought to this world. Messy as they were, memories of his birth father are still precious to him. He makes a soft, happy noise, cuddling close to his partner, giving him a gentle hug. ]
That... would be really nice, actually. I can bake some in the Fortress, then. Sure, I can buy them at the store, but there's something special about picking them yourself.
[ And yes, keeping a tradition alive. He likes that idea. ]
Hm. It's ability is based on how close you are to the subject- on the level I'd be crafting, it's romantic partners or family only. So your father and siblings might be able to use it too, but no one other than that.

Mm, freshly harvested produce always tastes better than the store bought stuff anyway. When we're home, we can go to a gardening shop and pick up some starter plants. It's spring, so now's a good time of year to do it.
[With the coming of spring, the gardening shops merchandise will be stocked to the brim. no doubt they'll find some raspberry plants perfect for Varian.
But at the explanation, he makes a considering sound, thinking it over]
... I'd rather my father not have access to such information, for I'm concerned he'd stress himself into an early grave. [Sometimes, ignorance truly is not only bliss, but a kindness] Though I suppose we can simply not tell him about the feature.
You and my siblings I don't mind though, if it'll ease your worries. So if you wanted to add that to the ring... I'm alright with it.

[They can't cross times and worlds to get Quirin and Jun together. But this? This feels like the next best thing.
He nods in understanding at the comment about Abel. Varian can get that very easily. There's plenty that happened to him that Varian... carefully avoided telling Amal while he was off the app. Why stress him out with even more when he couldn't even follow up on it, after all? Thanks are a little different, now Amal is back on the app again, but still. ]
That's very fair. We don't need to worry him more than he already does worry about you. It won't be obvious, anyway, and I'd be the one wearing it. I think we'll be okay.
[He smiles a little. ]
I do admit... I do worry a little, sometimes. I know you can handle yourself, I know that too well, but I love you and worry is part and parcel of that. Having a way to check in now and again... would help. But I do also understand why it would cross boundaries, so I did wanna be sure you were totally okay with it first. And, of course, you'd be able to do the same with me with your ring.
[ Because he SAW how upset what happened on the Event Horizon made Jun. Of not knowing it wouldn't have changed what happened to him, but if he can find any way to ease any of Jun's worries about him in the future, he will damn well take it. ]

[At least, that's how Jun viewed it. It's the reason that despite Kronos Orden not even existing in this world, Jun kept using his shroud and greatsword. It was a connection to the long line of Seal Knights that came to before him.]
I get it... and I appreciate you asking me about it first, truly. [he knows if he had said no, he would've listened] Though... I do ask you don't become reliant on it, okay? How about... we only use the magic if something's gone wrong? Like one of us missed a check-in, or we receive word of something bad happening in the city.
Love and worry may go hand-in-hand, I don't want your worry to consume you, after all. [Or him, for that matter]

[Varian doesn't have a lot from Corona to tie him back there. He has Ruddiger, a few knick-knack the Birthday Skeleton gave him and that was it. But finding new ways to remember, to enjoy the things he did enjoy back then... it means the world.
He nods at his partner's request. That one was at least easy. ]
Absolutely. We're on the same page there. I mean, I'm always gonna worry about you a little, I know you can handle yourself in a fight and heal from just about anything, but I'll always hold my breath a little until you check in and let me know you're okay. But I love you and that just comes with it, you're right. But I won't let it consume me if I can avoid it, I promise you that.
[ A promise, to show he's serious about it. ]
I just want it as an absolute failsafe. Just in case.
