[Guilt IS a pretty good move against Varian. He lapses into miserable silence, listening to what she has to say. She's right, and he knows she's right. This isn't going away as he'd hoped it would. He knows trying to ignore it will just result in him digging a hole for himself and for them. No one can come out of this without hurting.

He's gone through the first two options already in his own head, and she's right, he doesn't like either of them. The thought of breaking either of their hearts that way is unthinkable. All three of them are horrendously stubborn. ]

Fern made it abundantly clear that his feelings weren't ever going to change and that's when I told him I didn't have any feelings for him. Him finding out I do will genuinely not help with that.
